Boron

Boron appears to assist the body in maintaining calcium balance which helps to maintain strength and is among the trace minerals that can prevent osteoporosis.  The highest concentrations of this trace mineral are found in the parathyroid glands.

Boron may also play a role in the alternative treatment of arthritis and hypertension because of its relationship to calcium metabolism.  Animal studies have shown a need for higher insulin secretions when boron is deficient.  Poor hand-eye coordination, short attention span, and decreased memory have also been attributed to boron deficiency.

Foods high in Boron include:

Apples                                Nuts
Pears                                  Avocadoes
Grapes                                Prunes
Leafy Greens                       Legumes

Boron deficiency symptoms include:

Osteoporosis                                  Arthritis
Hypertension                                  Short attention span
Short-term memory loss                  Poor hand-eye coordination
