Chromium

Chromium is an essential part of glucose tolerance factor and is vital in carbohydrate metabolism by enhancing insulin function for the proper use of glucose.  Chromium has been shown to be a vital alternative therapy for diabetes, and can even be a natural cure for diabetes.  People native to Asian countries have approximately five times the amount of chromium in body tissues as do Americans.  Atherosclerosis and diabetes are rare diseases in those countries.  Supplementation of chromium has been shown to increase glucose tolerance and reduce LDL cholesterol by decreasing blood fats.  Chromium also raises HDL cholesterol, and should be part of any alternative therapies for atherosclerosis.

Adult onset diabetes may mirror the loss of chromium with age.  Chromium may in fact be a natural cure for adult onset diabetes.  Unfortunately, chromium has a poor rate of absorption at only 20%-30% with colloidal chromium.  Ionic chromium is nearly 100% absorbable.
